Counselling and Psychotherapy to help you find your own path.
caring, compassionate and understanding
I am a qualified social worker, registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers and qualified psychotherapist. I have over 20 years experience in working with people and supporting them to achieve their goals. I am a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers and abide by their Code of Ethics.
Being a social worker, I have a focus on your goals and outcomes. As a psychotherapist, I have the skills and tools to help you work out what these goals and outcomes are and how to accomplish them.
I am passionate about helping people learn to be free from the roadblocks keeping them back in life, preventing them from being their best and most capable selves.
I feel honoured to hold the confidence of people at what might be the most challenging time of their life.
Some of the areas that I have worked in, for government organisations and non-government organisations are:
Drug and Alcohol Use
It takes a lot of courage to make the first step to addressing your concerns and issues. Setting goals and changing your life can be difficult and confronting.
Calling me to book an appointment could be the beginning of the rest of your life.
My approach to working with you will be tailored to your needs and concerns. I often use Narrative Therapy, which examines and realigns the stories we tell about ourselves. I also use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which looks at why we behave the way we do. One of the key tenets of my practice is unconditional positive regard, which means that I accept you for who you are, while supporting you to make the changes in your life that we have identified together.
You can see me about the following:
Anxiety and Depression
Parenting support, particularly around ADHD and autism
Grief and loss
Major life changes
I also see children, particularly children who are experiencing anxiety.
I welcome clients of all sexual orientations, genders, cultures, and relationship styles.
In line with industry standards, I participate in one-on-one supervision to ensure and develop the quality of my service.
Please attend at least 5 – 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time in order to complete the paperwork. The initial consultation is about developing rapport and establishing what you want to get out of our sessions.
Appointments last for 60 minutes.
It is very important to start and finish our appointments on time. Unfortunately, if you arrive late the appointment will need to finish at the designated time and as such the appointment will be shortened. This is to ensure that I can see the next client on time.
Fees and Rebates
I charge a flat fee of $90 per session. At this stage, I am not able to offer any rebates or gap payments. I can offer ongoing appointments with no restrictions and no reporting (apart from Mandatory Reporting) to any agency or organisation.
I can take payments by cash or bank deposit on the day.
If you are unable to attend an appointment please ring to let me know as far in advance as possible. This enables time to be able to offer that appointment to another person.
ADD Support Group
If you are an adult with ADD or looking at a diagnosis of ADD, and would like to participate in a support group, please contact me on 0479 068 820 to discuss this further.
All services are confidential, and any information gathered as part of the initial consultation and/or treatment will remain confidential and secure. Please note, however, there are situations in which I am legally bound to break confidentiality and disclose information. These include:
• Clients considered at imminent risk of harming themselves or someone else
• When Child Abuse/Neglect is disclosed, observed, or reasonably suspected
• When a Court orders a report or a file is subpoenaed by a Court
• A client has access to unregistered firearms
If an important part of your care involves sharing information with other individuals then you may be asked to provide written consent to the sharing of information with a third party. This is not compulsory.
