About Me

About Me

I am a qualified social worker, registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers and qualified psychotherapist. I have over 20 years experience in working with people and supporting them to achieve their goals. I am a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers and abide by their Code of Ethics.

Being a social worker, I have a focus on your goals and outcomes. As a psychotherapist, I have the skills and tools to help you work out what these goals and outcomes are and how to accomplish them.
I am passionate about helping people learn to be free from the roadblocks keeping them back in life, preventing them from being their best and most capable selves.

I feel honoured to hold the confidence of people at what might be the most challenging time of their life.

Some of the areas that I have worked in, for government organisations and non-government organisations are:

Disability

Drug and Alcohol Use

Mental Health

Child Protection

Advocacy

About You

It takes a lot of courage to make the first step to addressing your concerns and issues. Setting goals and changing your life can be difficult and confronting.

Calling me to book an appointment could be the beginning of the rest of your life.

About You
Treatment Approaches

Treatment Approaches

My approach to working with you will be tailored to your needs and concerns. I often use Narrative Therapy, which examines and realigns the stories we tell about ourselves. I also use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which looks at why we behave the way we do. One of the key tenets of my practice is unconditional positive regard, which means that I accept you for who you are, while supporting you to make the changes in your life that we have identified together.

You can see me about the following:

Anxiety and Depression

Sexual/Intimacy Issues

Relationship counselling

Affair recovery

Separation counselling

Parenting support, particularly around ADHD and autism

Grief and loss

Major life changes

I also see children, particularly children who are experiencing anxiety.

I welcome clients of all sexual orientations, genders, cultures, and relationship styles.

In line with industry standards, I participate in one-on-one supervision to ensure and develop the quality of my service.

Appointments

First Appointment

I can email paperwork to you, but if you haven’t completed the paperwork prior to your appointment, there will be paperwork on a clip board in the waiting area for you to complete. In this case, please attend at least 5 – 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time in order to complete the paperwork.

The initial consultation is about developing rapport and establishing what you want to get out of our sessions.

Appointments

Appointments last for 60 minutes. For couples, appointments last for 90 minutes.

It is very important to start and finish our appointments on time. Unfortunately, if you arrive late the appointment will need to finish at the designated time and as such the appointment will be shortened. This is to ensure that I can see the next client on time.

An appointment confirmation sms is sent the day prior to the initial appointment and subsequent appointments. Please note, however, this is a courtesy sms only and the onus is on you to keep a diary of your own appointments and attend the appointment at the arranged time.

If you are unable to attend an appointment please ring to let me know as far in advance as possible. This enables time to be able to offer that appointment to another person.
